The concept of endless growth is behind our system of success. The engine of our economy is money.
We are trained to believe in that system & we place our faith in those who control the levers.
The idea is that operating out of self interest maximizes the returns for all of us. The reality is not validating that conclusion.
Those who are in a position to grease the economy with money, have as their goal, the maximization of profits for themselves. It is much like a giant multi-level marketing program. The top few funnel the wealth into their own net worth.
When the system crashes those few turn to the many to bail them out. If they don’t get it one way then they do another. Either way the majority pay the price.
So how about the risk addiction? Naomi Klein, at Ted Woman, probably says it best:
Does something need to change?
Should we question our faith?
Change is never easy.
But the grandkids!
