When our good friend and fellow woodchopper, George Finkbeiner, passed away, we wanted to honour his memory in a lasting way. A special tribute that would exemplify the way George led his life. Kiva Microlending was suggested and so a Kiva team was formed, Friends of Woodchopper George, a group of like minded folks who believe in people helping people, just as George did.
Kiva is a non-profit organization with a mission to connect people through lending to alleviate poverty. Leveraging the internet and a worldwide network of microfinance institutions, Kiva lets individuals lend as little as $25 to help create opportunity around the world.
