A Time of Giving

Christmas is here, a Christian concept, which got me to thinking ‘what do all religions have in common’.

What ‘gives’ with giving once per year as a priority?

Why isn’t that part of our everyday activity & prioritized as such?

Isn’t that part of our very nature, which can be brought out without the shopping ads?

That strikes me as a spiritual question.

We have a choice!

We can draw on the selfish side of our being, or the giving side of our nature, anytime we want to.

We  have a group of Choppers, here on Pender, that decide to do that every week of the year.

I read somewhere that God is ‘Within’ & Tolstoy wrote ‘The Kingdom of God is Within’.

So that Being or State of Being resides right here.

I can choose to reflect it or not.

I’m in Heaven!

Where Have All the Flowers Gone

We were raised in the sixties & many of us were known as the Flower Children or Hippies.

“Flower Power – An America 1960s Movement

When people think of America in the 1960s, they often have a romanticized idea of a decade of great music, liberal idealism, and Flower Power. It was the time when the post war baby boomers were in their adolescence, embracing counter culture ideals, expanding their minds through all kinds of drugs, and truly, living life to the fullest. The Flower Power movement reached its climax at the Woodstock Festival held in upstate New York in 1969 when an estimated 500,000 people lived in peace and harmony for three unforgettable days.” ‘Flower Power’, Hubert Cumberdale

Peter, Paul, & Mary sang:

Where have all the flowers gone, long time passing?

Where have all the flowers gone, long time ago?

Where have all the flowers gone?

Young girls have picked them everyone.

Oh, when will they ever learn?

Oh, when will they ever learn?

Where have all the young girls gone, long time passing?

Where have all the young girls gone, long time ago?

Where have all the young girls gone?

Gone for husbands everyone.

Oh, when will they ever learn?

Oh, when will they ever learn?

Where have all the husbands gone, long time passing?

Where have all the husbands gone, long time ago?

Where have all the husbands gone?

Gone for soldiers everyone

Oh, when will they ever learn?

Oh, when will they ever learn?

Where have all the soldiers gone, long time passing?

Where have all the soldiers gone, long time ago?

Where have all the soldiers gone?

Gone to graveyards, everyone.

Oh, when will they ever learn?

Oh, when will they ever learn?

Where have all the graveyards gone, long time passing?

Where have all the graveyards gone, long time ago?

Where have all the graveyards gone?

Gone to flowers, everyone.

Oh, when will they ever learn?

Oh, when will they ever learn?

Where have all the flowers gone, long time passing?

Where have all the flowers gone, long time ago?

Where have all the flowers gone?

Young girls have picked them everyone.

Oh, when will they ever learn?

Oh, when will they ever learn?
